DESCRIPTION

This position is for a Urology Clinical/Triage Nurse at the Koman Outpatient Pavilion Urology Center. Under the direct supervision of the Urology nurse leadership, this RN will be responsible for direct patient care, coordination, and management of urology patients in the clinic setting. Duties include clinical triage, EPIC in-basket management, patient education, and direct communication with providers.

This RN will also provide coverage for sick calls, vacations, and messaging for the urology clinic team. The RN must possess strong clinical and communication skills to effectively collaborate and coordinate with healthcare teams, ensuring optimal care for patients and families in a busy outpatient urology clinic. Additionally, the RN should be capable of delivering an excellent experience for our patients, providers, and team members in both virtual and clinic environments.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. This role is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years active RN experience.

  • Recent telephone triage experience (within the past year).

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform triage and manage critical or urgent situations with speed, accuracy, and tact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.

  • ACLS certification and/or UCSD ART.

  • Ostomy experience.

  • Surgical experience.

  • Ambulatory Care experience.

  • Previous telephone triage experience.

  • Recent Urology experience.

  • Acute care experience: med/surg, ED.

  • AIDET or other customer service training experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the Medical Center's business needs.

  • Need to be flexible on days and hours worked including some weekends.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
