Duties and Responsibilities
The Biology Department is seeking a highly motivated part-time laboratory scientist manager to perform administrative and technical tasks and assist with ongoing research projects in the laboratory of Dr. Yanan Chen on Loyola University Chicago's Lakeshore Campus. The primary responsibility of the lab manager will be to manage records for all activities and experiments in the lab, manage mouse inventory and provide technical support for laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools.
- Establish and maintain databases of information relative to laboratory supplies, animals, procedures, regulations, and operations.
- Perform experiments
- Assign and direct the performance of technological procedures.
- May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master's degree supplemented with 3 - 5 years of related experience in a research or science lab. A Ph.D. of highest terminal degree is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field.
- 10+ year's experience in a laboratory or similar setting closely related to the position.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate well with laboratory staff and investigators.
- Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized records is essential.
- Working knowledge of basic computer software and general lab equipment is helpful.
- Must have experience to work independently and supervise others.
- Proven attention to detail is also required.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
