Job Summary/Basic Function
The primary responsibility of this grant-funded, temporary position is to provide academic assistance to EMT & Paramedic students.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a current State of Michigan EMT or Paramedic License
  • Candidate must be committed to student retention and success and display exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference to candidates with experience in individual and group mentoring and tutoring, and/or teaching.
  • Preference to Bay College EMT/Paramedic graduates
  • Experience working as an EMT or paramedic for a Life Support Agency
  • Experience as an Instructor Coordinator
  • Bachelor's degree in EMT/Paramedic or a related field

Assist the faculty member in EMT/Paramedic classes as needed


Job Duty
Assist the EMT/Paramedic department staff and faculty in the remediation process for students who are having difficulty meeting the learning outcomes of the EMT/Paramedic program.

Facilitate individual and group academic coaching sessions to students in the EMT/Paramedic programs.


Job Duty
Serve as point of contact for EMT/Paramedic students who are at risk and work with appropriate staff and faculty to ensure that they are provided the necessary assistance

Recognize and respond to students according to their varying learning needs and use innovative strategies to assist them in grasping and applying subject matter

Develop and provide study skills workshops for EMT/Paramedic students


Job Duty
Hold study tables for students, focusing on facilitating effective and efficient study habits for EMT/Paramedic course content


Job Duty
Provide assistance in developing cross-curricular activities to promote the success of students in the program and then implementing those activities for specific students in the program


Job Duty
Document student interactions as determined by Academic Support Department


Job Duty
Provide lead instructor with follow-up of what topics were tutored with the student and areas of concern
