Job Description

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor. This non-tenure track position has research as its focus. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in existing funded research supported by the Department of Defense on soldier performance and perception, and independently obtain additional external funding to support their salary and research expenses. This research should align with the existing motor systems focus within the Department of Kinesiology and adjacent areas from other departments on campus.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct high-quality research in kinesiology or related fields.
  • Seek and secure external funding for research activities.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • In instances where research findings are deemed proprietary by study sponsors, generate appropriate reports
  • Collaborate with other faculty members, both inside and outside the department, to foster interdisciplinary research.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research activities as they relate to the candidate's research program.
  • Engage in service activities within the department, university, and professional community.



Requirements



  • Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and scholarship
  • Publication record in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in securing or leading external funded research is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and education
