Janitor - Temporary

OVERVIEW:

The Janitor position works under the supervision of the Shelter Director to assist in cleanliness for the Harbor House Family Emergency Shelter.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean designated building areas to maintain excellent appearance, sanitation standards, and cleanliness expectations
• Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities as needed
• Follow all health, safety regulations, and chemical storage and hygiene best practices
• Follow up on maintenance repairs initiated by Residence Operations Manager, Program Director, and/or Executive Director(s)
• Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins and prepare them for removal by Operations Attendants(s).
• Ensure unused areas of the building are locked for safety and security
• Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Experience in building maintenance, janitorial, and/or repair work

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and appliances
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous components
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

EQUIPMENT USED:

• Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
