Depot Manager

The Depot Manager is responsible for directing warehouse activities and leading other team members within the warehouse. This position also supervises general operations, conducts budget planning and production, quality control, emergency response coverage, building and construction safety, and training and compliance with federal and state regulations for specific Helena operations.

The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

What your day may look like



  • Supervises daily monitoring of inventory, slow moving management and long inventory management.
  • Coordinates receiving and transferring of products.
  • Calls on regular or prospective customers to solicit orders (driving required).
  • Orders products, manages FIFO methodology in the depot, ships long product.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the Units Operations Manager to resolve inventory discrepancies and process inventory adjustments.
  • Directs salvage of damaged products and used or old materials.
  • Coordinates security procedures for depot (inventory centers).
  • Handles division questions concerning inventory.
  • Coordinates with Unit Operations Manager all monthly safety meetings, manages truck drivers, hires and trains depot team members and completes performance reviews on truck drivers and depot team members.
  • Maintains the depot's fleet.
  • Monitors driver reports with the assistance of the Unit Operations Manager.
  • Provides regulatory training to all team members at the depot with the assistance of the Unit Operations Manager.
  • Reviews daily reports for the depot.
  • Coordinates reception of customer order and processing through computer in conjunction with the Office Manager.
  • Approves all monthly bills and handles any questions from the Office Manager with respect to these.
  • Approves all product return credit memos and communicates these to the Unit Operations Manager.
  • Coordinates month-end closing procedures, inventory counts and reports with the Unit Office Manager.
  • Oversees inspection of the depot and equipment including monitoring of housekeeping procedures.
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle as needed.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.



Education and experience needed for this position



  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license is required.
  • Ability to travel by various means is required.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 100 pounds.
