Position Description:

As a real estate departmental specialist within BOD, you'll play a pivotal role as the statewide technical specialist for the MDOT Real Estate Technical Program. Your expertise in data analysis, coordination and attention to detail will directly contribute to enhancing the overall traffic program. Your problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset will be invaluable in troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring optimal performance. Responsibilities:

As the next real estate departmental specialist, you would be responsible for:

  • Overseeing MDOT’s real estate right of way (ROW) mapping and planning programs and process for the department.
  • Administering and coordinating programs with Region Real Estate, Design, Surveys, and Real Estate Services Section staff to ensure decisions made are consistent with the department and statewide policies and procedures.
  • Directing and managing the department’s ROW mapping processes using CADD, ProjectWise, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology.
  • Developing and overseeing standard operating procedures, documents, form templates, and business practices for use by statewide real estate staff and/or consultants to promote statewide consistency and uniformity.
  • Working with MDOT Design and MDOT Planning to ensure they are aware of all new alignments (Design) and where significant projects will occur in the future (Planning).
  • Utilizing GIS products to update ROW maps, standard map templates, shape files, graphics, tables, and reports, and perform data searches and retrievals.

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Departmental Specialist 13 position.

 

Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials:

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

 

Knowledge of:

·                The principles and practices of research and analysis.

·                Computer programs used for analyzing and producing data.

·                MDOT's plan process.

Ability to:

·                Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate a variety of data for use in program development and analysis.

·                Plan, coordinate, and expedite work projects.

·                Train other employees and provide training programs.

·                Communicate effectively with others.

·                Work collaboratively and maintain favorable public relations.
