The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.

Job Summary

As a Mechanical FEA Engineer, you will be part of the mechanical engineering team with various assignments by program teams for development of complex mechanical solutions that meet the challenges of a tactical computing environment. Your role will consist of conducting Finite Element Analysis (stress and/or thermal), evaluate mechanical designs and recommend appropriate design approaches based on results.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform detailed stress and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) (such as modal, transient, CFD, SRS)
  • Support testing of products, systems or subsystems(Vibration, Shock, Thermal)
  • Deliver detailed reports of FEA/Testing results and provide proposed product improvements
  • Perform and support initial and ongoing design reviews
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
  • Support and participate in technical activity
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
  • Ability to work independently under supervision of others
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
  • Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
  • Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • May participate in preparation of less complex proposals
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Finite Element Analysis Experience
  • Desired that candidate is proficient in thermal and structural FEA
  • Desired that candidate has experience with instrumentation equipment (DAQ Systems, accelerometers, strain gauge, etc.)
  • Ability to use ANSYS, BK Connect and Ansys Icepak or Fluent CFD software
  • Ability to use PTC CREO software for mechanical design
  • Desired experience in mechanical electronic packaging
