The basics of this position:

Based at the South County Center, this position will hire and train professional, associate, and peer tutors as needed to deliver tutoring services to meet the needs of the South County student population. Collaborate with Academic Success & Tutoring manager and peer tutoring coordinator to develop and deliver a comprehensive tutor training program that meets certification requirements from the College Reading & Learning Association. Provide essential mathematics tutoring support for students from developmental through highest college-level math courses in both campus and online environments. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, manage, and evaluate tutors. Assist in meeting budgets while creating Academic Success & Tutoring objectives that support success and equity for all students.

What you'll do:



  • Lead hiring, training, and orienting math tutors.
    Develop, implement, and maintain the tutoring schedule for assigned campus and for online with the collaboration of districtwide supervisors;
    arrange for additional help or reduction of staff depending on center use and budget allowance. Tutor and manage day-to-day tutoring center operations;
    assign tasks and duties to tutoring personnel.
    Perform regular staff observations and evaluations; recommend wage increases, terminations, and promotions.
    Handle personnel and student issues within the scope of the job description.
    Communicate regularly with tutoring staff, AST manager, and supervisors to maintain open communication.
    Use technology to track attendance and prepare statistical analysis of center activities.
    Attend meetings, workshops, and special classes; serve on campus committees or task forces as needed.
    Other job-related duties as assigned


Education, experience, and other requirements:

Master's degree in Mathematics or related STEM field and 1-2 years' work experience OR Bachelor's in Math or related STEM field and 3+ years' work experience. * College level tutoring experience. * The knowledge of and ability to tutor higher-level math and/or other STEM-related courses. * Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse student and employee population. * Strong interpersonal skills. * Ability to work in an environment of constant interruptions while remaining patient, empathetic, and polite. * Strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities. * Technological proficiency.
