Ultra Maritime-Sonobuoy Systems is seeking to hire a talented Summer Engineering Intern/Coop for our Victor, NY Engineering Center of Excellence. The successful candidate will work under direction of senior staff to support development of our mission critical software for our naval customers all around the world. We support leading edge technologies, high-end processors, FPGAs, and embedded operating systems.
Our team in Victor, NY is a small group and world leaders in Sonobuoy receivers. Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Receives direction from an experienced engineer and may work with peers to accomplish deliverables for a task.
  • Able to create presentations/reports and present work to engineering staff.
  • Able to maintain a professional attitude and communications to peers and engineering staff.
  • Provide development support for legacy system upgrades, new design development, process improvements, software test or documentation.
  • All staff is required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety by adhering to established safety policies and procedures, to not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any individual and to wear personal protective equipment as specified.
  • Performs all other duties as required or needed.

Required Skills:

  • Senior or Junior level degree candidate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Skilled using various software applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Requires U.S. citizenship to access the facility.

Desired Skills:

  • Interest or experience with C, C++, C#, Python.
  • Interest in embedded systems development.
  • Ability to learn and understand technical data and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve problems.
  • Ability to select work methods based on priorities.
