Who we're looking for

Toyota's newest manufacturing facility - in Greensboro, North Carolina - is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Battery Maintenance Group Leader.

Prior to starting battery production, the primary responsibility of this person is to hire and lead skilled maintenance teams in preparing maintenance plans for battery plant equipment. This includes hiring a team, creating, and implementing technical training, developing skills, and launching the framework & systems, which will be used within the maintenance department.

After starting battery production, this person will lead the skilled maintenance teams to complete predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, and respond quickly to equipment repair needs. Primarily, this person will instill a culture of continuous improvement - creating a collaborative team who takes pride in equipment downtime prevention.

This position reports to the Manufacturing Maintenance Manager, and work in partnership with production, engineering, quality, and other departments.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead hiring and establishing the manufacturing maintenance Team Leader and Team Member team. This includes recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding.

  • The Maintenance Group Leader may train in Japan for 2 - 3 months, and will collect first-hand knowledge, technical know-how, and manufacturing best practices to successfully implement battery equipment maintenance plans.

  • Maintenance GL will work with the rest of the Pilot Team to document equipment operation training materials, equipment PM plans, material inventory for solving equipment problems, and systems to monitor, track, and ensure completion to plan.

  • During and after production start-up, the Group Leader will spend considerable time on the production floor overseeing the equipment, developing each team member's technical capability, and problem-solving methodology.

  • The Maintenance Group Leader is expected to be highly technical and have a strong focus on people development - providing leadership coaching and mentorship to all team members.

  • Managing and coaching CMMS and PM planning is a key responsibility for this role.

  • After starting production, the Group Leader will meet equipment maintenance KPI s, visualize the maintenance shop condition, and provide measurable & continual improvement.

  • Working a 12 Hour shift (night or day) on a 2-2-3 Panama schedule

What you bring

  • Experience in maintenance for manufacturing or process industries.

  • Experience leading teams, including coaching a team to solve problems and continually improve.

  • Experience with production operations and equipment (example: electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, PLC, robotics, safety protocols, etc.).

  • Maintenance technical expertise: technical degree or completion of trade school, or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong with electrical & mechanical fundamentals.

  • Successful examples of process improvement and kaizen.

What you may bring

  • Experience with equipment reliability and new equipment technology related to a start-up, major or new model change, or product launch.

  • Knowledge of battery; cell/module; or similar experience in a highly automated production environment.

  • Experience within industrial processing (example: PLC programming, controls, IoT data collection/storage/analysis, mechanical precision, vision system, robot maintenance, etc.).

  • Experience with predictive maintenance through condition monitoring (for example: vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, current analysis, etc.).

  • Knowledge or experience with Lean Manufacturing principles (Shop Organization, Visualization, Problem Solving).

  • Knowledge or experience with Reliability Techniques: FMEA, RCM, etc.
