Belden's Application Engineer successfully operate as the Region's Technical & Application expert during all pre-sales activities with identified target customers or markets within a defined geographical region. They deliver customer orientated solutions and enable the business to achieve profitable business growth with new and existing accounts. This role can be remotely based out of any major metropolitan market, and will require travel of at least 25%.

Responsibilities:



  • Provide SME point-of-view on Customer Vertical and Applications
  • Provide Technical expertise to the Sales team during qualification and while verifying the needs of the customer
  • Deliver and / or Develop Use Cases for Customer Applications supporting emerging technologies
  • Develop and deliver technical proposal presentations to customers
  • Identify, Propose and Deliver Solution that meet the customer's expectations; proactively demonstrate the relevance of the recommended solution to the customer. Deliverables include (but are not limited to) Needs Analysis, Spec Creation, Drawings, etc.
  • Plan, organize and implement proof of concept installations or demonstrations.
  • In cooperation with Sales, facilitate and document Field Trials of Belden's products in the customer's facility. Including documenting current state, identification of issues and provision of input to a business case for change.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key Technical Influences and Decision Makers at the customers, both current customers and target customers and their value chains.
  • Proactively maintain Technical and Application knowledge of Belden's product portfolio, keeping abreast of new technology advances in the Smart Buildings market
  • Develop into a leading industry SME through speaking at conferences/tradeshows, writing blogs, articles etc.


Required Skills and Experience



  • Possess a technical degree/diploma relevant to the role
  • Possess current and up to date knowledge on Ethernet Networking, Wireless/5G, Wifi, AV and Broadcast technologies as used within commercial markets.
  • Credentialing specific to Smart Building Technology (i.e. RCDD, CDCP, AVIXA CTS / CTS-D or similar)
  • Experience in AIA MasterSpec Format, or other Regional Specification Formats
  • Experience with Visio, CAD, Solidworks, BIM orREVIT preferred
  • Travel of at least 25%
