Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location.


Compensation Minimum:$103,500 Annual
Compensation Maximum:$165,700 Annual

Summary:

This role is in support of Data Engineering and Data Science Teams, and includes application development support (Java, Python, etc.) for deployment of multi-cloud big-data applications and Machine Learning use cases. Engineers in this role are expected to focus on automation of deployment and integration tasks (CI/CD) and to drive cloud infrastructure management and automation. The role brings the opportunity to work in a diverse Data Engineering and ML space, and to grow into that role in keeping with the team's DevOps culture.

Top candidates will have strong cloud background. Experience with GCP AND AWS a bonus.

Also, knowledge of data science practices strongly preferred.


Job Description:


Candidates are passionate about designing and developing in a fast-paced, agile, small-team environment. Engineers work to build out ML integrations and deployment automation pipelines and work closely with Data Scientists to bring to models into production. The work also includes data engineering work to create efficient and well-managed training and serving environments. The ideal candidate is an innovative problem solver with demonstrable success using a variety of open-source and cloud-native technologies, a highly team-oriented attitude, and a focus on framework-oriented, configuration-driven and highly reusable design approaches.



  • Supports Cloud/Big Data Engineers in coding and integrating data pipelines for automated deployment
  • Evaluates new tools and approaches to continuously evolve the team's DevOps practice
  • Collaborates with DevOps, Data Engineering and Data Science teams in the Enterprise


Required Experience and Hard Skills



  • 4+ years developing in an Object-Oriented Programming language (Java preferred)
  • 3+ years developing in Python (may be combined with the above requirement, if Python experience is strictly OO coding)
  • Familiarity with specialized scripting/SDKs related to data management (e.g.: Boto3, PySpark)
  • Familiarity with key file formats: JSON, YAML, AVRO, Parquet
  • 2+ years working in Public Cloud environments (AWS or GCP required, others desirable)

    • Strong familiarity with AWS environment
    • Working knowledge of CloudFormation

  • 4+ years working in Linux environments
  • 4+ years in Integration Engineering, CI/CD or related field

    • Practical experience setting up build pipelines
    • 4+ years working with GIT and other SCM

  • Experience with containerization frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Experience with REST web-services frameworks (e.g.: Spring Boot, Flask, Rails)

  • Self-motivated learning and problem solving
  • Strong team communication
  • Experience working in structured environment with controlled software life cycle
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills - Visio, Draw.io, LucidChart and other diagramming tools a plus


    Travel Requirements



    • This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.


    Education and Licenses



    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    This position is a hybrid role that involves working a minimum of 10 days per month in the office.
