Description

Summary: Under general supervision of the service manager to perform corrective maintenance on all electronic equipment, optimizes, maintains, and repairs 2-way and wireless communications systems as required. Provide technical assistance to Field Service team members and other personnel in the organization. Provide occasional field support when needed for all supported equipment. Perform parts sourcing and bench repair of service parts relating to the Service Shop. RF/Coil MRI repair is a plus.

  • * Able to analyze analog and digital circuits
  • * Able to troubleshoot and repair to component level on all supported products.
  • * Be an expert in top-level RF electronic assembly, test, debug, and repair
  • * Utilize level 3 soldering, and rework skills
  • * Work with small parts under a microscope
  • * Build test benches from DC to 110 GHz
  • * Interpret component datasheets and read schematics
  • * Be a team player, working in collaboration with the assembler, operations, and engineering team
  • * Have a positive attitude with high ethical standards
  • * Understands the theory and operation of all supported products.
  • * Utilizes proper test equipment to perform job tasks and observe proper safety procedures.
  • * Makes recommendations and changes relating to procedural/operational procedures.
  • * Organizes and maintains assigned tools, test equipment, and work areas.
  • * Performs on-site technical assistance as required.
  • * Completes special projects in a timely manner when assigned.
  • * Writes and maintains test procedures for repairable items.
  • * Interfaces with co-workers, other management, and other department heads on issues that concern or affect them.
  • * Perform other duties as assigned.



Education and/or Experience:




  • Electronics, RF hardware, repair in 2-way radio and wireless communication systems theory. Able to use computer and program, troubleshoot, perform diagnostics, and repair complex communication systems or related discipline, or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with microwave components test and repair, including amplifiers, LNAs, mixers, block converters, and synthesizers.
  • Experience supporting and testing both components and systems
  • Capable of operating on test equipment such as an oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, multimeters, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of technical equipment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact professionally and courteously with management and other personnel.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by telephone, e-mail and in person with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Willingness to take initiative and assume responsibility for all supported parts and equipment
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Ability to work independently to solve complex problems related to the repair of all supported equipment.



Licenses, Certifications: An industry license (FCC, FICA or NARTE) is preferred. A valid driver license and insurability in the state of employment. CET or NABER certifications a plus.
