Sr Mobile Software Engineer

The Opportunity

Under the general direction of the Software Engineering Manager, the Software Engineer will be responsible for the designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging new and existing Android platform integrations with our in-session communication infrastructure. Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical specifications and requirements definition based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
  • Support, maintain, document, and write unit tests for software
  • Analyze code faults to find root causes of errors and put systems into place to pre-empt similar faults in the future
  • Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
  • Consult with Product Management and end-users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet customer requirements
  • Review code of other team members and provide constructive direction.
  • Guide more junior developers.
  • Responsible for requirements definition, design reviews, implementation, testing, and initial documentation
  • Working with commercial CPaaS APIs and open-source real-time communication software supporting high-quality, low latency voice/video communication between millions of users

Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years of experience developing user-facing android applications or libraries
  • 4 year degree or equivalent, Master's degree preferred
  • English-language written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of object-oriented design principles
  • Expert knowledge of key android framework components, including Activity, Service, Application & ConstraintLayout
  • Solid understanding of kotlin programming language and kotlin-idiomatic approach to typical coding problems. Ability to read, work with and port java code to kotlin
  • Experience with git or other version control system
  • Experience working with at least one mainstream open-source android library

Nice to have

  • Understanding dependency management in gradle
  • Experience working with Room jetpack library or other ORM
  • Knowledge of best practices for building custom UI views, animations and working with Canvas
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of coroutines and kotlin's approach to concurrency
  • Practical knowledge of working with Lifecycle, ViewModel & LiveData architectural components
  • Experience writing tests by using jUnit and espresso
  • Integration with Firebase cloud services & push notifications
  • Experience with a commercial CPaaS APIs or open-source real-time communication software preferred

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $172,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for performance bonus, RSU's, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: . Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
