Ross University Simulation Center is currently seeking for per diem simulation teaching Assistant applicants in the Miramar Florida Area. Responsibilities include assisting Simulation Manager in all areas of Simulation Center instructions and other activities as assigned.

Responsibilities

The ideal applicant should be able to engage, mentor, and teach a diverse student body, as well as, work closely and cohesively with other RUSM affiliated clinical instructors under the supervision of the Simulation Manager. To this aim, he/she must possess excellent teaching, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. It is also important that the Simulation Teaching Assistant be self-directed. Candidates must be motivated by working on complex, ever-evolving initiatives that are student driven.

  • Assist with CSA remediation high stake assessments by playing the patient role, providing documented tracking, grading, and feedback. Working closely with Medical Directors and Students Services
  • Assist with instruction: teach OSCE/standardized patient formative and summative exercises, provide guidance on history-taking, write-ups, SOAP notes, design test questions and proctor exams
  • Assist with other instructional activities, as assigned by Simulation Manager and Medical Director
  • Provide tutoring support to RUSM students preparing for USMLE STEP 1 and STEP 2 CK
  • Serve as mentors to a cohort of students, maintaining close communication with each student and providing guidance in all aspects of their performance, including visits to clinical sites
  • Team up with Clinical Teaching Instructors staff to ensure that adequate needs, gaps, staffing, and logistics, ensuring optimum student experiences and Backup coverage during residence interview season.
  • Provides collaborative feedback to Medical Director, Clinical Simulation Instructors and Simulation Manager
  • Responsible for input and tracking of information associated with mock CSA data
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Must be a graduate of Ross University School of Medicine
Must have an M.D. degree and completed all clinical rotations by April 30, 2022
Must have graduated within twelve months prior to the start date of the position
Must have passing scores on first attempt (preferrable) to all three USMLE examinations (Step 1, Step 2 CK)
Must have passing scores on first attempt (preferrable) Occupational English Test (OET) Medicine
Satisfactory (or better) grade in 5th semester
Satisfactory (or better) grades in all subsequent activities undertaken as RUSM student, including performance on NBME qualifying exams
Strong teaching skills and experience; or evidence of potential
Must work well on a team, show flexibility and desire for self-improvement
Excellent communication skills in English
Must be US citizen or legal resident - no visa sponsorship
