Position Description - Business Intelligence Developer/Modeler

Broad Description of Duties:

Design, develop and maintain strategic business information systems, including system requirement assessment along with the full development life cycle. Primary focus is on business intelligence development, information delivery mechanisms, data analysis and data integrity.

This position reports to the Director BI Analytics

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Design, build, and maintain cubes, marts, reports and dashboards using tools from the Microsoft BI stack, including SSRS, SSAS, SQL, and Power BI.
  • Maintain the operational integrity of the data warehouse and other reporting environments, responding to issues in a timely manner and participating in an on-call after hour's rotation.
  • Collaborate with application teams and business stakeholders to prioritize and integrate data into the data warehouse.
  • Anticipate needs and continuously seek opportunities to improve the quality, availability, and value of the organization's data assets.
  • Function as a problem-solving expert and escalation point for the business in regards to business intelligence solutions.
  • Work within the guidelines of the approved budget and timelines for specific projects.
  • Prepare and present project status reports as requested by project leads and management.
  • Demonstrate verbal and interpersonal skills and be an effective communicator and company representative.
  • Remain abreast of current information system trends and technologies and recommend technology to the business that will meet and leverage the needs of the business.
  • Adhere to all of the personnel and application development policies and procedures of the division as well as the parent company.

Education Required:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent experience.

Experience Required:

  • 3-5 years of data warehouse design and business intelligence development experience
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft's BI toolset:

    • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
    • DAX and MDX Design, Coding, and Best Practices
    • Power BI
    • Visual Studio development suite

  • Familiarity with:

    • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
    • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

  • Knowledge of Kimball data modeling methods
  • 3+ years of prior experience using business system analyst skills
  • Strong analytical, trouble shooting and organization skills
  • Excellent communication and team building skills

Physical Requirements:

The employee is required to stand, and/or walk occasionally. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Work is performed in an office and theatre environment. The noise level is usually low to moderate with an occasional loud environment.
