Responsibilities
Customer Service
* Communicate and interact with co-workers, customers and others in a positive and respectful manner to provide positive public relations and customer service.
* Operate computerized cash register.
* Collect fees and parking tickets and keep them organized.
* Control parking of vehicles for best utilization of space.
* Report problems to appropriate parking personnel.
* Handle minor complaints.
* Answer questions related to automated pay machines, respond to or initiate inquiries, and explain policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to help team members when necessary.
* Work independently as well as in a team environment.
* Respond positively to supervisor's direction and customer concerns.
* Treat others with respect and consideration.
* Write and speak clearly and effectively.
* Monitor sound/video systems proficiency with equipment.

Quality Work and Productivity
* Perform quality work in an efficient and timely manner.
* Complete all work according to established University and PTS procedures and standards.
* Offer ideas and suggestions to increase efficiency and improve services.

Starting Hourly Rate: $20.00

Work Environment

The work is performed in both interior and exterior environments in University parking structures and lots.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent, with one-year retail experience in dealing with public and cash handling.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in a parking program.
* Experience at a university or a campus setting.

* Ability to process cash and credit transactions in a timely manner.
* Ability to organize information from multiple sources to correctly process parking transactions.
* Knowledge of or ability to learn computerized parking system.
* Following and communicating University policies and procedures.
* Assisting in sustaining a culture of respect and accountability.
* History of strong and positive customer service experience.

About the Department

Parking & Transportation Services is a self-supporting unit of the University of Minnesota within Auxiliary Services. The department is responsible for the administration, operation and maintenance of reliable and efficient transportation services on the Twin Cities campus including transit, parking, fleet, streets, walkways and way-finding. PTS supports alternatives to the single-occupant vehicle and promotes programs to encourage the University community to walk, bike, carpool, or take the bus. The department handles compliance documentation for all University vehicles or licensed equipment and administers the fuel credit card, vehicle insurance and safety, and employee driver training programs.

PTS Mission: Facilitating safe and effective integrated transportation systems that provide services for pedestrians, bicycles, transit and vehicles.
