POSITION SUMMARY: This position is two-fold: Half of the position is to help young people navigate school and academic goals; the other half is to teach classes and workshops on site.

This position will specialize in providing academic support to address a young person's mental health treatment goals for education that they set in therapy. This position is part of a multidisciplinary clinical and psychiatric rehabilitation team that serves the whole person and values the inherent wisdom and input of each person we serve.

On-site "well-being" class and workshop topics can be broad and will include leading workshops and activities as well as supporting youth-led groups. What are your strengths and interests? Physical health, nutrition, social skill-building, creative endeavors, gardening, outdoor education - all of these and more can be offered through this position. It will depend on the strengths of the person hired.

7:45am - 6:15pm T-F (1 evening a week may be required)


$16.24/hr. - $19.49/hr. (Bachelor)
$18.84/hr. - $22.64/hr. (Master, or Bachelor + 5 yr)


  • Develop relationships with and knowledge of Denver area education options - DPS, Emily Griffith, CCD, Metro, Regis, and others
  • Act as an advocate and liaison for youth in their school programs
  • Collaborate with young people and their families to determine education goals and work toward accomplishing goals
  • Co-coordinate GED/High School Equivalency program at Emerson St.
  • Connect young people with schools
  • Connect young people with school advocates and disability services
  • Help facilitate assessments for IEP's
  • Interview, train and supervise volunteers and interns
  • Teach classes and lead activities at Emerson St and in the community on a variety of topics for overall well-being
  • Show compassion and respect for people who have experienced trauma and who experience serious mental health challenges

Bachelors Degree

  • Bachelor degree in rehabilitation or specific job duties with one year of experience.
  • Bachelor degree in related field with one year of vocational experience or experience related to specific job duties.
  • Three years of vocational experience or experience related to specific job duties.

Masters Degre

  • Masters degree in vocational rehabilitation or specific job duties.
  • Masters degree in related field and one year of vocational experience, or experience related to specific job duties.
  • Bachelors degree in rehabilitation and three years vocational experience, or experience related to specific job duties.
  • Bachelors degree in related field and four years vocational experience or experience related to specific job duties.Some experience in mental health, social services or human services preferred.


  • Experience working with teens and young adults
  • Experience working with people with mental health experiences preferred
  • Knowledge of, or ability to build knowledge base of, local public schools including DPS, Emily Griffith, Auraria Campus, etc
  • Strong communication skills to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good time-management for timely documentation in the EHR

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:     Interview, train and supervise volunteer teachers, student interns, tutors and workshop leaders

PHYSICAL REQIUREMENTS:   Must have reliable transportation to meet young people in community-based settings. Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach, drive, operate standard office equipment such as phone, computer, facsimile, copier/printer, and other business machines.  Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
