General Summary:


Under the direction of the director, Employer Reporting, provide training to employers and internal associates on reporting requirements; provide timely and accurate responses to employer concerns. Communicate with assigned employers regarding STRS Ohio matters by mail, telephone, or personal visits. Develop mutually beneficial relationship between STRS Ohio and assigned employers.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Provide in-house and field support for employers with reporting problems or questions about STRS Ohio reporting procedures. Requires travel approximately 10-15% of the time; overnight stay occasionally necessary.
  2. Conduct training classes for internal associates.
  3. Assist in maintaining employer database and information regarding reporting practices, service credit calculation methods, and the like for use by all STRS Ohio associates.
  4. Respond to employer questions on membership, compensation, re-employed retirees, service credit, and other STRS Ohio topics in accordance with Ohio laws and STRS Ohio Board rules.
  5. Conduct general presentations for local treasurer groups and OASBO meetings as requested. Coordinate the development of materials and information to be presented.
  6. Conduct presentations at STRS Ohio employer workshops and meetings.

Required Skills

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  1. Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field preferred.
  2. Three to five years experience in tax or pension plans preferred.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication and relationship skills; ability to build constructive and effective business relationships and strong rapport with team members and internal and external customers.
  4. Ability to make presentations to groups in a clear, accurate and interesting manner.
  5. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills; ability to gather and interpret data and find solutions to problems.
  6. Ability to understand, accurately explain, and apply Ohio law, STRS Ohio Retirement Board rules, and administrative guidelines.
  7. Ability to operate standard office equipment, such as a calculator, copier and personal computer.
  8. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts via telephone, e-mail or in face-to-face encounters.
  9. Must preserve confidential information.
  10. Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines required.
  11. Excellent work record of attendance and punctuality; additional hours during peak season and occasional evening, weekend and non-regular work hours required.
